“Saint John is a liveable, walkable, touchable small, historic city on the Bay of Fundy.”
We are a treasure of diverse, easy lifestyles and supportive, honest community for people drawn to historic, urban neighbourhoods and life surrounded by nature, usable waterways, and accessible to the big cities of the eastern seaboard.
What we’re most proud of is the advanced, creative economy and workforce here that affords us this good life, with our ICT companies and the enablers and, increasingly, drivers of our greatest opportunities.
Canada’s Original City
Saint John is Canada’s oldest city and one that has done better than most at preserving and celebrating it’s heritage. There is only one other city in the western world that has a greater percentage of is building stock in the “heritage” category.
Most cities have their share of heritage properties. But there are very few places on this continent where you can look down a city street and see the same facades and streetscape as they would have over a hundred years ago. Find out about Saint John’s programs and policies for cherishing our heritage.
We aren’t without our 21st century icons either. New development has been occurring at an accelerated rate with modern buildings as well as full heritage restorations infused with energetic restaurants, cafes, and lifestyle boutiques. This is a modern city with a respect and nostalgia for the past that we have so elegantly preserved.
What makes this so special for the ICT sector is that many of the restored and modernized buildings are occupied by our most dynamic technology companies, providing unique creative spaces unfound in any industrial park where ICT is often placed in other cities.
