Resources

“In the global ICT economy, our neighbouring cities in the southern NB triangle – Fredericton, Moncton, even Halifax – aren’t our competitors. They are our partners. Their assets are our assets. Their universities, airports, workers are closer than most city’s suburbs. We succeed or fail together.” – Jeff Roach

Saint John is a city that was built for the creative economy. Our leaders understand that ICT business is about a lot more than what happens in Saint John. Reaching out to people and resources across our province, our region, and our world is something we do well here and we know it is the foundation of our success now and in the 21st century economy.

Uncommon Depth

While most communities only jumped into the ICT economy in the 1990s, many of our leaders have spent their entire careers spanning decades through to retirement building telecom services and pioneering processes, networks, and software relied on the world over in today’s digital world.

Our support agencies and educational resources have also grown along with our technology leaders. As a result we have a tremendous community and educational support network that knows the importance of ICT in our community and works to help us grow.

Enterprise Saint John is the best place to start to connect with the Think City’s business community and the resources available to help build ICT companies and careers. If they don’t do it themselves, they likely know about it and who to talk to about it.

Saint John Board of Trade is the Think City’s advocate and the principal voice for the business community of Greater Saint John.  It offers a variety of programs, activities, services, and networking opportunities designed to enhance the business prospects of members and the overall business climate of the area.

Propel ICTBorn in 2004 in Saint John (as propelsj) as a network of mentors to support startup ICT companies in the city with a campaign to called Launch32 to create 32 new businesses in 36 months (21 were achieved). Renamed and expanded across New Brunswick in 2008, Propel makes our most successful and experienced leaders and service providers actively available to entrepreneurs during the lonely early stage when smart decisions and investments are needed to enable our big ideas.

Just a short one hour drive north of Saint John is our beautiful capital city of Fredericton, home to more great ICT companies and important infrastructure needed to support the ICT industry. Because it is so close, many Saint John tech companies over the years have relied on the research and educational resources of the National Research Council Institute for Information Technology (NRC-IIT), the University of New Brunswick
